Pros: VERY Reliable, affordable, parts are easily found.
Cons: Does not aperate well at pressures less than 20 psi.

I have used my VL for over 12 years and have found that it performs VERY well in a variety of situations. Its tough, and if you should need to get parts for it, they are easily obtainable through almost any hobby shop. Quite possibly THE most popular airbrush ever.
The ONLY drawback I can think of is that the VL does not perform well at all at pressures 20 psi or lower.

NOTE: The VL itself can be found for about $60, but, I would highly recommend purchasing the VL SET that inclused three tips and needles, couple of bottles and usually a hose...I paid $95 for my set.

Pros: ease of use, spare parts availability
Cons:

I have been using my vl for 12-13 years, just now replacing needles because of warpage. Like KB said parts are easy to get, i would also recommend the whole set.

Pros: easy to use, and clean up
Cons:

I am new to airbrushing. And i thought this would be a good one to start with. I purchased the set which came with 1 3 5 needle and tips. 1 oz and 3 oz cup. It has been working good for me so far. I would like to get the HP-c from airbrush magazing soon and give it a try also. See how i like the gravity feed. Would recomend this product to anyone starting out, Price is good and it works good.

Pros: Easy for beginners
Cons: a little bulky

I am still new to airbrushing. I got the VL a few years ago and never did much with it because I wasn't getting very good results to start out(that was before I found the forum and learned what I was doing wrong).

Now I have a better idea of how to get the AB to do what I want/need it to, and I am very happy with it. I find I don't need to change needles all that often - I just keep the #3 in most of the time and try to get various spray pattens by adjusting.

Because of the price and ease of use and cleaning, I recommend this brush for beginners.

Pros: Very reliable, Part are easy to find, Low price
Cons:

This airbrush is a workhorse. Excellant for backgrounds and moderate detail. A great beginner's Airbrush and great for t-shirts. Option to change needle and cap sizes is a plus.

Pros: price value, ease of finding parts
Cons: uses quite a bit of air

So far so good, I like the price and the avaliability of parts and brushes, can get the kit for $49 bucks from Harbor Frieght Web site.
Durable yet dependable, must have a good air source however as takes quite a bit of PSI, sprays paints (Createx) very well, I plan on using for T-shirts and such.

Pros: Extremly Versitile
Cons: not made for minute details

If you need an all around great airbrush, I cannot think of a better one then the paasche VL. This brush can do some detail work, if you learn a few tricks (try using non-matching caps and needles) and so for general use, airbrushing, covering backgrounds, tee shirts, clearcoat, large paintings, and any number of other uses, this airbrush is a hard worker and will not give a lot of problems.

I would recommend having a gravity feed airbrush for detail work as this airbrush does not work well with low airpressure (well duh, its got the suck the fluid up the tube first)

If you need a great airbrush, and need it as versitile as possible, you cannot go wrong with the paasche VL.

Pros: with the set,it's a great deal. will spray almost anything you put in it. can be stubborn if you don't keep it clean.
Cons: like to see course threads on the handle to easily put on and off.

Very happy with the results capable with the vl. I have no problem with the size. and just adding this is not a one AB family here. It's a great workhorse for T-shirts.

Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Smaller hands may prefer smaller brush

I liked the VL, but had a lot of tip clogging problems with fabric paints. It is, however, a very versatile brush and I would recommend it to anyone starting out airbrushing and not having a lot of money to invest.

Pros: tough, easy to work on and find parts for, versatile,
Cons:

i still have the same vl\'s i bought 23 years ago! i really should have one gold plated for all the money they have made me! i don\'t use the handles, don\'t think i have them anymore...without the handle i can pull on the needle from the rear assembly and clear it really fast and go on to the next color.

the vl is a workhorse!!

Pros: Very versatile for the price
Cons: A little bulky and heavy

This is my first airbrush, so I can't compare it yet. But I find it perfect for a beginner.

I bought the set with the 3 needle sizes, so I can use it for any project.

I changed the red plastic handle for a chromed one, and I find it easier to use. It is more balanced... and looks better.

Pros: Easy to use, can be used as a single action gun
Cons: gettin the trigger back in once its out was a task for me.. the body of the airbrush can seem bulky.

i absolutely love this airbursh. this airbrush is soo easy to use and can be used for almost anything. the #1 needle is what i currently use and i love it. i also love the little holder they give so that you can rest safely while your on break. for the price its worth it. excellent to learn with!

Pros: General work horse of a brush at a very reasonable cost
Cons: Changing needles and tips for detail work

It was the first brush I ever used, It allowed me to get painting without doing all the ab excercises because it has the needle adjustment lock that enabled me to get nice line weights before having aquired the skill. Everone should have at least a couple of the brushes

Cons: difficult to get fine detail

I got the complete kit for 56 usd and have used it for a great many applications from t-shirts to spraying pearls to intercoat clears.

Pros: It can do many things with many paints
Cons: Some small detailing may be harder

I have a VL I bought in 1974 and aside from changeing needles, fluid tips and outer tips its never let me down. Now I am more serious with it.
I just bought a new VL in May 2006. The quality
is about the same. There is always certain things you can't do with an airbrush. The VL just for me won't do ultra light shading. But I know people that can do it. I will always use a VL. They are an all around good airbrush. If Paasche quit making all other airbrushes they would still be going strong with the VL.
