Description: This gravity feed Eclipse CS features a .35 mm needle and nozzle combination, as well as a generous 1/3 oz. sized cup. The new funnel design of the cup makes clean-up easier and also means that less paint is wasted. The short distance from cup to nozzle allows for more consistent paint flow, too. Fine artists and students alike will appreciate how well the Eclipse CS sprays heavier acrylics and Medea Textile Colours while maintaining very fine spray characteristics.

      Pros: big gravity cup
      Cons:

I love my HP-CS. It has a smooth trigger feel and the bigger paint cup is a blessing for me.

      Pros: Precision and well balanced
      Cons: none

In my arsonal the CS is my primary for freehand precision work. I keep an extra set of the needle and nozzle cup on hand as well as the .40 nozzle and needle for the brush.

Pros: Easy to Clean and repair.
      Cons: None

The detail I can get is very good. I have used the gun to basecoat a complete helmet (took a while) but it did well. I would purchase another and I have 2 in my arsenal

Pros: Easy to clean, lower priced
Cons: Not as comfortable to hold as HP needle does not seem to be as hard as HP

I own the HP-bh a VL and Anthem. I wanted a replacement for the to bottom feeds that I never use anymore. The bh is too small to do large areas so I needed somthing in between. If I had to do this again, I would have spent the extra money for the HP-C Plus or even the HP-CH (high line) The Eclipse is fine for the money, it is just not as nice to hold as the HP, do to the difference in body design. My hand cramps up much faster working with the Eclipse. The tip size works well with water base paint and covers well in larger areas but the needle is softer (tip bend easy) then the one in my HP. I have used this brush on Textiles and Tags and am happy with it's painting performance. The Eclipes tip design moves the tinny nozzle to the end of a press-fit cone, so you don't have to worry about striping the threads in the body, and it is easier to hold on to when disasembled. I still grab the HP-BH for detailed work but for the average T or tag, the CS would probably be fine. I have never sprayed solvent base paint so I can't say how it will respond. This is a good all around brush and that I wish I had purchased in the begining, rather then the bottom feeds. If you are a beginner thinking of purchasing a VL or Anthem, I would say save a few more bucks and get the Eclipse, you really don't need those big jars of paint as a beginner. If you have a VL, and want a gravity feed to replace it, and to do more detail, save a few more bucks and get the HP-C Plus or High line. This is just my opinion, so take it with some salt, my comparison to the HP does not take budge limites into account. If the HP would mean months of waiting.. get the Eclipse and start painting!

      Pros: Good feel and reliable
      Cons:

This is my favorite brush I own. It is versital enough to do almost any job I want. I have another Iwata that gives me a little trouble but this gun has never failed me.

Pros: Easy to clean. Consistent spray.
Cons: The cut out tail peice is unnecessary.

This is my first quality AB. I used this website and others to help me decide which one to buy. I am very pleased with it. My only complaint is the cut out tail piece hits my hand right at the knuckle. It is a little uncomfortable after a few hours of spraying. Sometimes I just take it off. It does not like heavy pigment paint either. It is difficult to get Createx paint to spray consistently. As a beginner, I know the AB is capable of performing better than I can. When everything is working right, (paint viscosity, air pressure, clean tip, clumbsy fingers) I can get hairlines with no overspray, and very controlled shading.

      Pros: Very controlable, Great detail
Cons: Can sometimes get finicky with createx white

Excelent brush for beginner and pro alike. I have loved this brush since it's purchase. This brush performs well day in and day out with water or solvent base paints.
I have modified mine with a longer taper on the needle and a mirror polish.
The performance is a little better than stock but tip dry was cut drastically.

      Pros: Great for beginners!
      Cons:

This was my first AB. Started learning on this, and honestly, its always the one I come back too. Its a great brush. I can do big and small work with it. I also used it to paint an entire canvas black. It holds up very well. Lot of people dont like the cut-away, but honestly, it doesnt get in the way for me when painting. I dont use that feature though because I havent had a paint clog. Great brush, parts are readily available too.

Pros: a great "beginner" brush you don't out grow
Cons: is a bit of an air hog

If I had to recommend an airbrush to someone just starting out, the HP-CS would be one of maybe three I'd suggest.
It's a workhorse of an airbrush, and can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. Very sturdy, about as easy to assemble/disassemble as an airbrush gets, easy to clean, and on top of all that, you get a suprisingly detail-capable and responsive airbrush.
Very fine detail is possible, which is remarkable considering its .35 tip size. The trigger has a heavier draw than I prefer, but thats easily remedied by simply trying different springs in the needle chuck guide, cutting a loop or two off the stock spring, or just "breaking it in".
Bottom line, it's a suprisingly good airbrush at a very reasonable price. It's got all of the "begginer friendly" traits you'd look for, but is more than just a begginer brush. It's a brush that will last a career (mine is a well-used unit on its second "career"
