Weekend of Fire

Weekend of Fire
Ohio Technical College's (OTC) first weekend seminar, A Weekend of Fire, was a great success. Held in OTC's Custom Paint & Graphics department, the workshop focused on realistic fire painting techniques. The seminar was taught by Thomas "Big Daddy" Banks and Pat "The Airbrush Guy" Downey.
"Most of the attendees had never touched and airbrush before today." says Tom Banks. "We had to introduce them to basic trigger control techniques first. Once they could marginally control the paint comining out of the airbrush, it was time to let the paint fly!" The seminar lasted 2 days, focusing on understanding the illusion of fire, and fire theory.
"It was really cool to see someone that didn't know the difference between a nozzle and a needle on the first day, to saying 'wow! I did that!' by the end of the weekend." says Pat Downey. "It was very cool to see that light go off for them."
OTC plans on continuing the weekend seminars, covering subjects including skulls, classic and tribal flames, and portraits. For information on upcoming weekend semiars, call Ohio Technical College, located in Cleveland, Ohio at 1-800-322-7000 ext 163.
