Default practice on metal surface (devil skull)

I have landed myself a nice job were I have to paint skulls over a compleate hood, and go over it with some nice rips. so my first crack at this comes to getting used to painting on a hard metal surface. have been painting on canvas mostly for the time that I have airbrushed. I´m using golden color and are very happy with it, but on metal it looks off to what I´m use to painting on metal compared when I paint on canvas. If i want a line on canvas then I can get it up to light and shape I wants ot in a few strokes, on metal I have to go over and over to get that exact same line, and when it have dryed it´s off again, and I have to return and do it again. so my question when painting on metal whit tob brand paint (hok) du you get the same problem or does that type of paint stays like it´s sprayed od does that change also?

well here is my picture that I have been practiceing on, the pic is only of the very first cote of white
