Default Rest from Regime

At the moment I am working nights and I,m finding it hard to ajust to the hours. So after a couple of hours sleep I,m back to the regime you all know it dots, lines, shadowing, ect. But to take away the bordem I have had a go at my first painting. It is suposed to be a desert scene but I got a bit heavy handed in places. Tomorrow back to the regime.

Neder, I know what you mean. A person has to move away from those dots and lines and daggers once in awhile. Anyway, I think that your dessert painting is a lesson in color, so all is not lost. LOL

Dots and line are great to get the feel of the triger and how your body moves. But after about 2 weeks it start to get old. My advice is to practice these basic moves till you can walk up cold, pick up the brush and put a dot where you want it, a line of the thickness you choose close to where you want it, and a dagger starting in a spot you choose and stopping in a spot you choose. At that point start painting pictures on what ever surface you plan to use. The way you make a dagger stroke is the same but HOW much Paint and how fast you move changes with every different surface and type paint you use. So spending 3 months on news print is not going to help you if you paint on metal and it will be much different on fabric. Try simple designs that require what you have been practicing, and with each painting choose something slightly more difficult to keep you moving forward.
