Near Future Project

OK, here we go. My 9 yr. old son wants me to paint a flame job on his bicycle this summer. He wants red flames, but the bike is painted like a powder blue. I feel that it won't look rite with that as a base color. Any suggestions on what color would look better? Also i have some auto air, i can use that right?I also have AA candy colors not to sure what candy colors do. I'm thinking it's a more shiney finish????????? Also pearlized colors??????
I know i'm a noob but if i can find a stencil small enough i think i can pull it off.lol. I think i have the procedure down, scruff up old paint, put down the base color, flames, clear, once i start it i'll double check with you.

Ralph, you could paint the Red Flames and shadow them in a deep blue without changing the base color. I would get a blank and paint it the same base as the bike, then play with some color combos to see if you can make it look like he wants it

Candy colours are translucent (or transparent or something like that) you can put them down over other colours and they will tint them, the more layers you put down the more the tint and in theory you will still be able to see through them to the first layer.
I think there is more to it.... anyone feel free to correct me if I'm a bit off.

Bang on Cotto. The pearls have a hint of glitter in them. Ralph, you could do white ghost flames with candy blue on top.

Thanks guys for the ideas, i think there is a old bike frame around here that i can practice on. Sorry i didn't repley sooner been playing around with the cp.
